Ivan Tovar

Born in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic in 1942. In 1963 arrives in Paris where he lived for about 20 years. He has exhibited in Luxembourg, Stockholm, Lisbon, New York, among other places. He won the 2nd. price in drawing in the IV Art Contest Eduardo León Jimenes, 1968.

Critics register his paintings as neosurrealism, although his compositions display a highly personal symbolic world. Currently he lives and works in the Dominican Republic.

Nació en San Francisco de Macorís, República Dominicana en 1942. En 1963 llega a París, donde vivió durante unos 20 años. Ha expuesto en Luxemburgo, Estocolmo, Lisboa, Nueva York, entre otros lugares. Ganó el segundo premio en el IV Concurso de Arte Eduardo León Jimenes, 1968.

Los críticos registran sus pinturas como del neosurrealismo, aunque sus composiciones muestran un mundo simbólico muy personal. Actualmente vive y trabaja en la República Dominicana. Murió en el año 2020.
