Painter expressionist, Alice Martinez Richter (1911-1996) was one of the first women prize winners of the Prize of Rome of painting, twice in 1933 and in 1939, in a time when the men doubt recognizing the feminine talents. Her painting is the reflection of her audacious character. Endowed as much for figures as for landscapes and still lifes, she leaves a powerful and sensitive, soberly constructed and cheerfully colored work. Born on August 12th, 1911 in Paris she points out very early, towards the age of 15 years, for her gifts in drawing and painting. At the age of 18, she enters the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris.

From 1941 till 1945, while she teached drawing to Constantine's Secondary school, makes numerous paintings in particular women faces but also still lifes and some landscapes. From 1948 till 1957 she painted in a studio which she shared with Antoine Martinez, an old house of wooden basket maker, in the middle of bushes and trees. There she painted bucolic faces, etc. It is also the period of major figures painted from drawings and from sketches realized during the years spent in the Constantine region.

Between 1951 and 1954, she stayed on summer in the south of France where she followed a water cure and painted landscapes. Invited by the French Navy at the end of 1970 to paint life on board, she made two stays, which inspired her several paintings. Hampered by disorders of eye coordination, she stopped painting after 1985. She died on August 1996 in France

Pintora expresionista, Alicia Martínez Richter (1911-1996) fue una de las primeras ganadoras de los premios de las mujeres con el Premio de Roma de la pintura, en dos ocasiones en 1933 y en 1939, en un momento en que los hombres dudaban en reconocer los talentos femeninos. Su pintura es el reflejo de su carácter audaz. Dotado tanto por figuras como por paisajes y bodegones, deja una obra poderosa y sensible, sobriamente construida y color alegremente. Nacida el 12 de agosto de 1911 en París, ella señala muy temprano, hacia la edad de 15 años, para sus habilidades en dibujo y pintura. A la edad de 18, entra en la Ecole des Beaux Arts de París.
